All staff at Cathartic Collaborations are Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+

Caitlin Hughes (She/They)
Hello!
I’m an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) and founder of Cathartic Collaborations. I support neurodivergent and queer individuals through relational and values-aligned therapy and professional supervision that honours the fullness of who they are.
I live and work at the intersections of Autism, ADHD, Giftedness, and queerness. This lived experience, alongside my professional training, deeply informs how I show up in my work: with warmth, clarity, creativity, and an unwavering respect for complexity.
My therapeutic practice exists at the meeting point of trauma healing, identity integration, and systems change. I walk alongside those who are unmasking, rebuilding, or redefining their lives after years of burnout, misattunement, or trying to "fit in."
I’m collaborative, intuitive, and flexible -willing to pause, adapt, laugh, or dig deep depending on what’s needed. I believe therapy can hold both gravity and humour. Sometimes it’s a place to fall apart; other times it’s a space to vision, rebuild, or reclaim. I hold space for both.

Values
Living in alignment with my values is deeply important to me, and I strive to embody them in every aspect of my work:
-
Integrity: Being honest, ethical, and transparent
-
Equity: Recognising and dismantling systemic injustice
-
Wisdom: Integrating theory, practice, and lived experience as valid forms of knowing
-
Curiosity: Remaining open, reflective, and growth-oriented
-
Compassion: Holding space for both the messiness and magic of being human
Practice Framework
My work weaves together multiple layers:
-
Neurodivergent Affirming: Valuing and supporting neurodivergent identities, strengths, and lived experiences.
-
Trauma-Informed: Understanding the impact of trauma and working in ways that prioritise safety, choice, and empowerment.
-
Neuroqueering: Challenging norms around identity, functioning, and relationships; deconstructing internalised ableism and heteronormativity; centring fluidity and authenticity.
-
Systemic & Critical Social Work: Exploring how ableism, capitalism, heteronormativity, and cisnormativity affect wellbeing.
-
Multidimensional Human Development: Considering the dynamic and interconnected factors that influence human growth and change.
-
Positive Disintegration: Viewing growth and transformation as an ongoing process, often driven by deep, challenging experiences.
-
Relational Ethics: Practicing in an attuned and accountable manner. that considers power dynamics

Emma Hughes (She/They)
Practice Manager
Hello!
I'm a proud ADHDer and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, with over five years of experience in leadership and store management. Through my own lived experience and professional journey, I’ve witnessed firsthand the systemic barriers neurodivergent individuals often face in the workplace - and I’m passionate about changing that.
I specialise in fostering inclusive, strengths-based environments where neurodivergent minds are not just accepted, but celebrated. My work focuses on bridging the gap between business goals and human-centred, neuroaffirming practices.
Outside of work, you’ll find me enjoying good coffee, quality time with my wife and our two cats, and diving deep into learning about neurodivergence and inclusive leadership.
